DUNKIRK - MOVIE REVIEW

*Directed by Christopher Nolan *Starring Harry Styles, Tom Hardy, Cillian Murphy, Mark Rylance, Fionn Whitehead, Kenneth Branagh, Jack Lowden,  Tom Glynn-Carney, Aneurin Barnard, and James D'Arcy The Plot: Set in the World War II era, after British and French armies are driven by Germany to the border of Dunkirk, France, German forces are in the air attempting to destroy these surrounded men. The film follows simultaneous events from the point of a view of a few young British soldiers trying to find a way to escape Dunkirk, an older British citizen, his son, and the son's friend trying to sail close to the border in an attempt to save soldiers, and the ongoing battle in the air of British fighter pilots attacking German fighters in an effort to defend their forces who are on the ground and in the water. Through all this, the end goal is to evacuate these soldiers before these attacks get increasingly worse. If you haven't been following my blog as of recent you'

CHRISTOPHER NOLAN RANKED! PART 3

In case you wanted to catch up, here are Parts 1 (#9 - 7) and 2 (#6 - 4) of this editorial. Well folks, we've made it to the final part of this Christopher Nolan editorial to discuss 3 of my all time favorite comic book films. If you were to ask me my favorite superhero/comic book movie of all time I would cheat and say The Dark Knight Trilogy, but considering this is part of a ranked list my thoughts on each film are slightly out of order. Without further ado here are #'s 3-1: 3. BATMAN BEGINS (2005) To start off one of the best film trilogies of all time in my humble opinion, this film by far features my favorite superhero origin story of all time. It's sequel  The Dark Knight  gets credit for being the superhero movie seen to take its characters and world more seriously because of how tonally dark and aesthetically grounded it all was, but I thought this film alone did a perfect job of showcasing that style before  The Dark Knight  ever released. Nolan did

CHRISTOPHER NOLAN RANKED! PART 2

The Nolan madness continues in Part 2 of this ranked editorial of Christopher Nolan films. If you want to catch up and read Part 1 click here . Today I'll be discussing #'s 6-4, so without further ado here we go... 6. MEMENTO (2000) Coming off of Following I feel this was the movie that really made Nolan come into his own and his original directing style that I've come to love in his later career is very present. Following was the film where Nolan was feeling out his filmmaking style while Memento expanded on that and added additional layers to the screenplay. The reason why I'd say layered is definitely because there was more to work with in the lead character of Leonard Shelby, played amazingly well by Guy Pearce, who's an underrated actor in my opinion. His character was incredibly fascinating to see play out over the course of this film and it's probably obvious to say that his psychological defect of memory loss was essentially the heart

CHRISTOPHER NOLAN RANKED! PART 1

Well folks, with the release of Dunkirk coming out very soon I thought now would be the perfect time to revisit the films by Christopher Nolan and do another ranked list like I did with M. Night Shyamalan's filmography back in January. What's funny is that the one's ranked lower aren't necessarily bad, but just that others ahead are just slightly better than the others. Like the ones ranked lowest I still think are really good! In my own personal rank please enjoy my own personal thoughts about every feature film directed by one of my all time favorite directors Mr. Christopher Nolan. 9. FOLLOWING (1998) The directorial feature debut for Mr. Nolan I found to be quite ambitious working off of such a shoe string budget. The end result was an incredibly compelling crime thriller. Even though very low budget the quality of the film in terms of its filmmaking was rather impressive with its effective thriller based intensity found in the fast paced editing like other

WAR FOR THE PLANET OF THE APES - MOVIE REVIEW

*Directed by Matt Reeves *Starring Andy Serkis, Woody Harrelson, Amiah Miller, Steve Zahn, Karin Konoval, Terry Notary, Michael Adamthwaite, Judy Greer, Sara Canning, and Devyn Dalton The Plot: *I really don't want to explain the plot even with the littlest details because judging from the trailers that don't give any story away I feel it's best to go into this film knowing very little about the plot, but to really sum things up: Caesar and his fellow apes are dealing with repercussions and conflicts caused by Koba in the last film between apes and humans, but then as certain events go down they lead to Caesar trying to fulfill an objective that will end said conflict, so that his apes are able to find a place of sanctuary. I'm a big fan of blockbuster movies and even though I have an appreciation for all cinema made in this day and age whether it's a big budget movie or an original independent film, to me there will still be those blockbuster movies th

SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING - MOVIE REVIEW

*Directed by Jon Watts *Starring Tom Holland, Michael Keaton, Robert Downey Jr, Marissa Tomei, Jacob Batalon, Jon Favreau, Zendaya, Tony Revolori, Laura Harrier, and Donald Glover The Plot: Taking place after the events of Captain America: Civil War , Peter Parker is dealing with his personal life in high school as well as feeling out his abilities as Spider-Man. He's really shaping himself into becoming the hero people will eventually know and love and at the same time is trying to prove he can be a strong, responsible hero under the eye of Tony Stark, so that one day Peter can help serve with the Avengers. In the midst of all this Adrian Toomes aka the Vulture plans an operation with his team in order to obtain certain objects in possession of a secret organization under the Avengers and now Spider-Man must come in to prevent such events from happening. It's been an interesting history with the Spider-Man film franchise because just when films after Raimi's Sp
