MOST ANTICIPATED FILMS OF 2017 PART 1 (#21-14)

Well folks! It’s my very first editorial and what better way to kick things off on my blog then to discuss with you my Most Anticipated Films of 2017! It just blows my mind how many films I’m so over the moon excited to see next year! Also, just so you guys know this is all personal preference. Some of my most anticipated films might not be on your list or some films might not be ranked as high others, but that’s more than okay because the magic of movies is the subjectivity. There might be films that you’re excited about and bring you joy that I might not be interested in at all or some we’re equally excited for, but hey! Enough chit-chat! Let’s break down My Most Anticipated Films of 2017:

Heres Part 1 of 3
(#21-14)

21. THE MUMMY -

From our first glimpse this looks like an absolutely fun fantasy adventure! Tom Cruise is a natural and Sofia Boutella as the Mummy herself looks like she’ll commit to an interesting role while also having such brilliant action chops. This is screenwriter Alex Kurtzman’s directorial debut that looks visually impressive, but hopefully has compelling material to work with.

20. THE DARK TOWER -

I know nothing about the original story, but I adore most films adapted from Stephen King stories. I’m saving myself from knowing anything about the story itself, but I do love that both Matthew McConaughey and Idris Elba are attached to star in this film and I’m sure the King story it’s adapted from will be all the more investing.

19. GOD PARTICLE -

Bad Robot Productions has released quality entertainment in the sci-fi genre. I’m super excited to find out more about this freaky super secret sci-fi project and love that a former indie director, Julius Onah, will bring something new to the table. It's lovely to see indie directors getting their names out there through these types of films. I absolutely love that these are the types of films these directors get to work with.

18. COCO -

I’ve been a big PIXAR fan my entire life, so it’s no question I’m excited for a project like COCO. I’m aware Cars 3 is coming out and the teaser trailer looked interesting, but I’m glad PIXAR is releasing more original films with different stories and characters we haven’t seen before. The Day of the Dead aesthetic that I’ve been hearing about for this film sounds super exciting and I can’t wait to see what the talented team at PIXAR has up their sleeve.

17. THE LEGO BATMAN MOVIE -

Every trailer I’ve seen has been nothing short of hysterical. I was a big fan of 2014’s THE LEGO MOVIE and loved the narcissistic Batman character they introduced voiced hilariously by Will Arnett. I can’t wait to see how the humor plays out, the super meta humor at that, but just a great fun and entertaining animated film that seems to not disappoint.

16. THE CIRCLE -

With a fascinating concept in place and a brilliant all star cast I’d be dumb to say I’m not excited to see this film. Tom Hanks, my favorite actor of all time, Emma Watson, and John Boyega, just to name a few are some of the best actors working in the industry today. The movie looks like it will have an interesting premise and commentary about technology while having great, compelling performances in the mix of it.

15. BEAUTY AND THE BEAST -

I’ll admit that I’m a casual fan of the original Disney film from 1991. I was never one to grow up with it and finally saw it in my later years and loved it. The last trailer for this film truly enchanted me. It looks as though when watching this film that we’ll be transported to this fictional world brought to life in live action. I feel Disney’s got a great thing going on with its remakes. I absolutely loved “The Jungle Book” and feel these remakes will honor and respect the Disney movies we all know and love. Beauty and the Beast looks like it will be no exception.

14. KONG: SKULL ISLAND -

This just looks like a great entertaining action-packed blockbuster film you go see in a giant theater and shove popcorn in your mouth. I mean this in the most positive way. This movie just looks like a reminder of why there should be movies that not only tell a solid story and showcase good and memorable characters, but also to make the adventure exciting and the atmosphere intriguing. The visual spectacle for this movie looks pretty spectacular and Kong doesn’t look like he’s there to have a tea party with our main characters. The visuals look great, the cast that’s lined up looks awesome and the throwback to retro blockbusters looks like it’ll have a strong presence as well. The adventure looks exciting and it looks like it will remind me one of the main reasons why I love to go see movies and that's to have fun!

Well guys that was Part 1 of 3 check back soon for Part 2 where it'll be (#13 - 7) ...

THE FUTURE OF STAR WARS

I think it's obvious for me to say that no matter what Star Wars content is coming out and when it will be released, I'll always be excited and on board to check it out. The universe of Star Wars is so vast and I love that there is always some sort of story to tell through film, TV, video games, novels, and comic books. So on the artistic end, we know the talented team over at Lucasfilm working in their respective mediums will deliver and give us thought-provoking content to make us rethink the saga and challenge the way we think about it. The business side of it is where the debates can start because I know that there will always be some form of Star Wars to look forward to, but how they are handling releasing all this new content and how they've done it so far has raised questions for all sorts of fans, myself included. Today, I wanted to take a deep dive into how they've developed their content so far and what this all means for the future of Star Wars and where we

IS IT FAIR TO BE DONE WITH A FRANCHISE?

Have you ever had something you love that you felt so connected to? A movie, a show, a sport, a video game, a hobby? You’ll ride or die for it, no matter what it is? No matter the setbacks, if there are even tiny things about it you don’t like? For me, I’ve always had a heart for movies and cartoons, which evolved into my love of art, entertainment, and pop culture. I love that this is a society where there is so much amazing content to enjoy and a variety of it that can appeal to the different tastes we have. For those of you who don’t know the things I’m obsessed with, that isn’t just in the broad world of entertainment and pop culture I’ll basically narrow them down to being The Beatles, superheroes, fantasy stories, and of course Star Wars. There are definitely other individual movies, TV shows, and comics I’m obsessed with, but it would be a really long editorial if we fell down that rabbit hole. If you want to get to an idea of who I am as a person, those four things I mentione
