MOST ANTICIPATED FILMS OF 2017 PART 2 (#13 - 7)

Well folks! The saga continues for My Most Anticipated Films of 2017, so without further ado here's Part 2 of 3:
(#13 - 7)

13. BLADE RUNNER 2049 -

The sequel to the 1984 sci-fi masterpiece Blade Runner directed by Ridley Scott. You would think a sequel over 30 years later would go south, but then you hear Denis Villeneuve, director of Prisoners, Enemy, Sicario and Arrival, is helming the project and all of those concerns peacefully go away. From our first teaser the look of this film looks absolutely breathtaking especially with a vibrant color scheme, but a taste of master cinematography work by Roger FREAKING Deakins, my all time favorite cinematographer. I honestly can’t wait to see how this story continues with Harrison Ford returning while teaming up with an LAPD officer played by Ryan Gosling, one of my favorite modern day actors. I loved the original film and look forward to revisiting it again upon release of this film and this movie looks as though it’s in great hands.

12. WONDER WOMAN -
The DC Extended Universe has been getting a bad wrap, but I’ve personally been enjoying what they’re putting out. Wonder Woman looks as though it’s going to blow all the other recent DC movies out of the water because the vision that director Patty Jenkins has this for this film looks outstanding. The action sequences look beautifully choreographed, the production design and costuming both look incredible, but more importantly Gal Gadot in the title role looks like she’ll absolutely kill it. She’s one to commit to the action scenes, but she also looks like she’ll have a strong presence in this role. The visual presentation looks as though Jenkins will knock it out of the park with a great lead in Gadot, but the fantasy lore quite interests me as it’s intertwined with World War I. The film I’m in for looks pretty darn promising!

11. JUSTICE LEAGUE -
Might be shocking this isn’t ranked higher on my list, but it’s here period. I’ll be honest I flip flopped this and Wonder Woman on this list, but I think I want to watch this film more due to the fact that from our first trailer it looks as though we’ll see some good and fun camaraderie between all the members of the team. I like the decision to make this film not as darker and bleaker in tone like Batman V Superman, but more on the lighter side, so we as the audience can have some fun seeing these heroes team up. I might not be the biggest comic book reader, but I hope the characters they introduce and showcase in this film make me more interested in this world and the history behind some of these characters. To think we would finally get this film and finally see Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Flash, Aquaman, and Cyborg on the silver screen together is a pretty amazing sight to finally see.

10. ALIEN: COVENANT -
I’ll admit that I wasn’t really that excited to see this film before because I didn’t really see how another Alien film was entirely necessary. I wasn’t one of those angry people who disliked Prometheus. I was in the minority of those who enjoyed it and never had this vendetta against Ridley Scott. I just didn’t know how to feel about there being yet another prequel to the original 1979 film we all know and love. Then I started to hear more about it and the fact that Scott was going to handle this film in a retro fashion with more practical effects and sets. It sounded so exciting and started to intrigue me more and more that I had more of an urge to see it. The last red band trailer released was bloody fantastic and had this amazing eery tone throughout. I couldn’t get enough of it and I cannot wait to see this film in all of its glory.

9. THOR: RAGNAROK -
I may be a big fan of the Marvel franchise now, but unfortunately the weaker films for me have been both Thor films. Thor’s my least favorite Marvel film, but I liked it for its fantasy elements and despite its flaws Thor: The Dark World gave me more of what I wanted in the first and I had more fun with it. All that said, Thor: Ragnarok just sounds crazy awesome and hopefully will be the best Thor movie we’ll get thus far. The fact that it’s gonna pair both Thor and the Hulk in what’s claimed to be an intergalactic 80s buddy cop movie, I’m more than sold on this film. I’m excited for more of that awesome fantasy element in Thor’s world and to see how it adds more to the Marvel Universe. I look forward to seeing the bond between Thor and Hulk and how they will play of off each other and finally finding out the burning questions of what happened to Odin and what Loki’s been up to. Thor: Ragnarok just seems like an awesome addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe!

8. KINGSMAN: THE GOLDEN CIRCLE -
The first Kingsman was one of the biggest surprises in 2015 and was one of my favorite films of that year, so to know that it got an amazing following and was able to spawn a sequel is the most exciting thing. The first film introduced a fresh take on the spy genre tonally and stylistically by being violent, but still cartoony and over the top. I can’t wait to see that done again on the big screen and see the return of Taron Edgerton as Eggsy, Mark Strong as Merlin with newcomers Jeff Bridges, Julianne Moore, Channing Tatum and Halle Barry. Not to mention the return of...Colin Firth? I honestly have no idea how that will be pulled off because if you’ve seen the first film *SPOILERS* his character dies. I’ll say I’m not concerned, but more interested to see how that character was able to fake his death and I’m sure it will be explained in a plausible way. Not to mention the return of director Matthew Vaughn, who is another one of my favorite directors working today. I can’t wait to see what’s brought to the table here with a new adventure and more added to this world.

7. LOGAN -

I did wonder how this was going to be pulled off considering this film was the final film with Hugh Jackman starring as Wolverine/Logan. You would hope that this wasn’t going to be just another throw away X-Men/Woverine film or a film that after viewing it you respond, “That was nice.” This film needs to be great to end Wolverine’s story on a high note and by how James Mangold is directing this film, if you’ve seen the trailer, you wouldn’t even think you’re watching another superhero/comic book film. It has this modern day western film aesthetic and this dark and gritty feel and because of that this movie looks freaking phenomenal. The feel of this movie just seems more grounded and real than what we’re used to and it seems like this type of film is going be a very humanized story about Wolverine. I didn't even get that vibe from just watching the trailer, but the title alone of using Wolverine's real name Logan. The realistic tone goes along with that aspect and I think the emotion in this film is really going to hit us like a ton of bricks with the inclusion of more great character development for this beloved character.

It's about to get down to the nitty-gritty. Finally, My Top 6 Most Anticipated Films will be posted in the next couple of days, so be on the lookout for that!

THE FUTURE OF STAR WARS

I think it's obvious for me to say that no matter what Star Wars content is coming out and when it will be released, I'll always be excited and on board to check it out. The universe of Star Wars is so vast and I love that there is always some sort of story to tell through film, TV, video games, novels, and comic books. So on the artistic end, we know the talented team over at Lucasfilm working in their respective mediums will deliver and give us thought-provoking content to make us rethink the saga and challenge the way we think about it. The business side of it is where the debates can start because I know that there will always be some form of Star Wars to look forward to, but how they are handling releasing all this new content and how they've done it so far has raised questions for all sorts of fans, myself included. Today, I wanted to take a deep dive into how they've developed their content so far and what this all means for the future of Star Wars and where we

IS IT FAIR TO BE DONE WITH A FRANCHISE?

Have you ever had something you love that you felt so connected to? A movie, a show, a sport, a video game, a hobby? You’ll ride or die for it, no matter what it is? No matter the setbacks, if there are even tiny things about it you don’t like? For me, I’ve always had a heart for movies and cartoons, which evolved into my love of art, entertainment, and pop culture. I love that this is a society where there is so much amazing content to enjoy and a variety of it that can appeal to the different tastes we have. For those of you who don’t know the things I’m obsessed with, that isn’t just in the broad world of entertainment and pop culture I’ll basically narrow them down to being The Beatles, superheroes, fantasy stories, and of course Star Wars. There are definitely other individual movies, TV shows, and comics I’m obsessed with, but it would be a really long editorial if we fell down that rabbit hole. If you want to get to an idea of who I am as a person, those four things I mentione
